DONATE 10M/- TO THE TANZANIA SCOUTS ASSOCIATION (TSA)

es Salaam. Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd, a leading
global ICT solutions provider over the weekend donatedTsh10 million to the
Tanzania Scouts Association (TSA) to honor 100 years of Scouting in Tanzania as
well as to mark the African Scouts Day 2017.
The donation was part of Huawei’s Cooperate
Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies to support the government efforts in
improving children and youth development as well as education sector in the
country.
As a responsible citizen, Huawei has been in
Tanzania for 17 years with a mission to grow together with Tanzania by
empowering local Tanzanians especially in Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT), and the company has invested a lot in supporting children, women
and other vulnerable people in Tanzania.
Speaking at the fundraising dinner, the Prime
Minister of Tanzania Mr Kassim Majaliwa said the donation was one of the
efforts made by various institutions to support the Tanzania Scouts Association
(TSA) which will celebrate its 100th birthday 2017, July in Dodoma region.
“This will be in recognition of the memorable
contributions that Scouts have made in this country. The Association is the
real kiln for producing responsible leaders and executives. It will be during
the celebrations that will look back to harness the past to improve the
future,” he said
He said that the Tanzania Scouts Association
(TSA) is the national Scouting organization of Tanzania. Scouting in Tanzania
was founded in 1917, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout
Movement (WOSM) in 1963. The coeducational association has 91,057 members as of
2010.
Minister of Education, Science, Technologies
and Vocational Training Prof Joyce Ndalichako who is also TSA President said
that scouting is a global, educational Youth movement. It is organized through
Scout Associations at National levels including the Tanzania Scouts Association
(TSA).
She said that scouting has a clear purpose
which includes helping young people to achieve their full physical,
intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as
responsible citizens and as members of the local, national and international
community.
“Even though the Scouts cannot solve all the
problems of the world, Scouts can help to make it a better place. Scouting
makes very positive contribution to society by helping young people to develop
as active members of the community who are self reliant, caring, responsible
and committed” she said.
